Purpose of the Role
To integrate and run a reliable, modern, cost-effective Planning, Supply Chain and Procurement function that operates in tight alignment with Finance, the Lines of Business and Product Management teams to successfully execute the McLaren Applied Strategic Business Plan.
The key activities are:
-Building long term relationships with suppliers
-Negotiate and maintain optimised costs, quality, delivery timeliness and working capital
-Consolidating existing supplier base into key strategic partners
-To develop and successfully deliver a Strategic Sourcing Strategy for McLaren Applied, incorporating a robust Make versus Buy and in-house Production plan that directly support and accelerates the delivery of Applied’ s Product and Market Roadmaps
-To define, select, negotiate and own the key global Strategic Supplier relationships the business requires to execute the Strategic Business Plan
-To identify the right-sized global Supply Chain for the successful delivery of our current and future product strategy defined in the Strategic Business Plan.
-Drive offshore activities in both manufacturing and engineering
-To identify and select best in class supplier group for delivery of the Applied Strategy.
-To drive all supplier commercial negotiations covering cost, supply, and all vendor funding agreements in close collaboration with the Applied Finance Director.
-To drive and own the Supplier portfolio including defining and measuring supplier performance, capability development, cost and quality improvements.
-To conduct regular and rigorous business reviews with suppliers to ensure continuous improvement and cost performance on scorecard performance
-Challenge supply chain norms to generate out of the box opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization and implements as appropriate
-Develop and maintains relationships with executives and senior executives at suppliers
-Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service and technology
-Collaborate with Product Management, Supplier Quality and Engineering teams to maintain a supplier sourcing strategy that aligns technology, business requirements and roadmap with supplier capabilities
-To act as the prime interface with cross-functional teams to assess current and future sourcing requirements of the business
-Drive quarterly supplier business reviews that defines, among other things, market and business analysis, product roadmaps, supplier capabilities and annual / quarterly strategic business objectives.
Tools and processes
-Introduce affordability analysis and appropriate financial modelling for example to ensure product specification and gross margin match forecast and planning
-Define the operational and process interfaces between the Engineering function and Supply Chain/Production function such that make versus buy decisions are well-planned and executable within quality and cost parameters.
-Working with the IT Director, to define and implement the tools and processes needed in the Supply Chain and Production functions to execute cost effectively against the Business Plan.
