Following a five-round absence, Italy’s Top Run Motorsport is set to return to the TCR International Series with an all-new itteration of its Subaru WRX. The team took part in the first two races of the year before opting to focus on development and has since then tested the newly built car with Luigi Ferrara behind the wheel.

“Following the meeting we had in Tokyo with Subaru STi, we have built a brand new car that features a number of technical improvements and some new parts that are better suited to the TCR regulations,” said Renato Russo, team manager. “The new car successfully went through an intensive testing programme and was later shipped to Thailand where our technical staff will be assisted by David Rowe of MoTec for the engine management and Hiroshi Nakagawa of TEIN for the dampers.

“We have also upgraded our first car to the same specifications – the one that was raced in the last events of 2015 and in the first two of the current season – and that has been shipped to Singapore. We will run both cars there, in Malaysia and at Macau,” added Russo.

The all-new WRX will make its debut at the next round in Buriram in Thailand, before taking on the Malaysian round of the championship. Ferrara will drive the new Subaru in Thailand while the team has not yet revealed who will drive the second car in Malaysia.
