Supercars develops in-car warning system

LinkedIn +

The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship has revealed that it is developing an in-car warning light system as an additional safety aid.

The electronic warning system, which is currently under development by the Supercars’ Motorsport and Technical Department, would work alongside the yellow flags and lights deployed by race control.

Blue flags, for drivers set to be lapped, will also form part of the system. Supercars will look to apply a Motec platform, similar to that which was used in the 2019 Bathurst 12 Hour.

The safety aid was tested last at the Queensland Raceway. There is no connection between the in-car lights and Supercars’ trial of on-car LED lighting panels.
