Performance brake and caliper component manufacturer AP Racing has launched its new multi-million-pound, state-of-the-art, semi-automated production line providing full product traceability and high-volume manufacturing capabilities.

Specifically built for the manufacture of OE road car brake calipers, the new line offers manufacturing flexibility across seven workstations, which can be configured according to individual customer requirements.

The line, which is able to produce 20 families of calipers, incorporating more than 100 different part numbers, was built to AP Racing’s exact specifications, creating an OE-level, high-volume, automotive brake caliper capability unrivalled in the sector and with complete traceability for every caliper produced.

“Our new semi-automated capabilities deliver flexibility, quality and traceability throughout AP Racing calipers,” said David Hamblin, managing director of AP Racing. “With Industry 4.0 around the corner, considerations to implement a second, similar line are already in place, as we anticipate greater and greater demand from the OE sector for our calipers.

The production line is a flagship for the Brembo Group, eventually providing the model for other new, semi-automated component lines globally.
