Cooper Tire Europe announced today that it has been selected by the FIA World Motor Sport Council as the Official Tire Supplier and Associate Partner to the FIA World Rallycross Championship for the next three years.

The new deal begins in 2017, with Cooper seamlessly continuing supply to the championship following a highly successful association with World RX since its inception in 2014. Cooper has been selected by the FIA as part of a tender process launched in April of this year.

The FIA Off-Road Commission recommended Cooper to the World Motor Sport Council based on its strong technical understanding and history of rallycross tire requirements, as well as its commitment to the promotion of the championship.

Cooper is the tire of choice for rallycross competitors across the world, having also supplied the European Rallycross Champions for the past two decades.

Cooper’s unique rallycross tire composition offers unrivalled levels of grip and traction on both tarmac and gravel to provide the best all-round performance. For competitors to tackle the changing surfaces, from tarmac to gravel, they need a tire which is capable of handling both rough and smooth surfaces.

“We are extremely proud to be continuing our association with the FIA World Rallycross Championship,” commented Sarah McRoberts, marketing communications manager for Cooper Tire Europe. “Our partnership with the championship over the last three years, since it began, has given us the perfect platform to be able to demonstrate and promote Cooper’s unrivalled off-road expertise, producing tires which can transition effortlessly across all surfaces found on rallycross circuits.”
