Italy’s JAS Motorsport has announced that the inaugural track test session for its new-for-2018 Honda Civic Type R TCR has been a success. The car was shaken down at the Autodromo Tazio Nuvolari in Cervesina by Roberto Colciago, reigning TCR Italy Champion and current TCR International title-contender.

JAS scheduled to build an initial run of 25 cars, based on the latest-specification of the Civic Type R production vehicle, and will deliver the first batch to customers between January and May 2018. Following this initial test, JAS is set to now enter into a more comprehensive testing programme with the car, before the first units are delivered to customers in December.

“It’s great to be able to get a first taste of the new Honda Civic Type R TCR,” explained Roberto Colciago, JAS test driver. “As this is only a first run it’s too early to say much about the car, but initial impressions were that it feels well-balanced, the engine is responsive and the gearbox and other major areas like the aero package, are improved over the old car, which was itself a multiple championship-winner. Anybody who races this car next year is going to have a very competitive package.”
