The 2021 Honda Civic Type-R Limited Edition, a street-legal track variant of the standard vehicle, is to be made available for the US market.

In the architecture of the Type R, a race-bred four-cylinder, 2-liter engine featuring direct-injection, a turbocharger and a VTEC valvetrain, will provide 306ps and 400nm of torque. The powertrain will be mated to a close-ratio 6 speed manual gearbox that houses a limited-slip differential.

Honda will deliver 600 units of the 2021 vehicle, all in Phoenix Yellow, and it will feature an individually numbered serial plate. Modifications to the vehicle include lightweight forged aluminum wheels made by BBS, specially tuned dampers, a 12kg (28 lb) reduction in weight, and a recalibrated steering rack to allow the driver maximum control and feedback. Three driving modes are featured – Comfort, Sport and +R – that allow for varied amounts of damping force, steering assist and throttle mapping.
