Citroën has announced that it has signed drivers Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy for its debut in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in the forthcoming 2025/2026 season.
Jean-Éric Vergne, a 35-year-old French driver, has established himself as a leading figure in modern motorsport. After a career in national and international single-seater racing, he is the first driver in Formula E to win two consecutive titles. His versatility also extends to endurance racing, where he drives for Peugeot TotalEnergies in the FIA WEC, accumulating experience and performances in all circuit categories.
Nick Cassidy, a 31-year-old New Zealand driver, is “one of the most accomplished talents of his generation in motorsport”, Stellantis said. After promising beginnings in karting and single-seaters, he shone in Japan by winning the Japanese Triple Crown (Super Formula, Super GT and Formula 3). In 2020, he joined Formula E, where he quickly established himself as a serious contender for the title, racking up victories and podium finishes. After two seasons with Jaguar TCS Racing, he has joined the Citroën Racing team and the Peugeot TotalEnergies team in the FIA WEC.
“Citroën is officially returning to motor racing as a factory team since its departure from the WRC in 2019, a field that has helped shape the brand’s history and legend,” Citroen said in a statement about its forthcoming Formula E debut.
“Citroën joining the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship demonstrates a sharing of values by reconnecting with motorsport in its most visionary form, with a 100% electric, responsible and committed competition.
“Citroën will use the Formula E World Championship as an opportunity to express its technological inspiration and to internationally showcase its vision for the future of mobility.”
