SRO Motorsports Group has announced that Circuit Park Zandvoort, is to make a return to the calendar as the final round of the 2015 Blancpain GT Series.
The former Formula 1 circuit has hosted several SRO race meetings in the past such as the 2011 FIA GT3, 2013 FIA GT Series and 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series. SRO Motorsports Group made this decision after having been informed that the organizer of the Baku World Challenge will be unable to stage the event due to economic reasons.
The decision to use Zandvoort as an alternative has been met with unanimous agreement of all teams involved in the championship. The final race weekend of 2015 will take place on October 10th-11th.
“Even though the announcement came as a surprise, with the third edition of the Baku World Challenge having been confirmed as part of a three-year agreement, SRO Motorsports Group would like to thank the promoter, International Concept Event, Aztexnika, Mr Ahad and all who have been involved in the two previous editions of the Baku World Challenge,” stated Stephane Ratel, founder and CEO SRO Motorsports Group. “They were two fantastic events which greatly contributed to the global growth of GT Racing. I am also happy that we have found a fitting alternative by organising the final round of the 2015 Blancpain GT Series on the challenging Zandvoort circuit.”
