Hennessey reveals track-focused Venom F5 Revolution hypercar

Texas, USA-based hypercar manufacturer Hennessey has unveiled the Venom F5 Revolution Coupe, the track-focused version of the Hennessey Venom F5. A host of revisions have been made to the vehicle to ensure it delivers increased agility, excellent handling and a high level of downforce.

Based on the Hennessey Venom F5 Coupe, the Venom F5 Revolution Coupe benefits from reworked aerodynamics, suspension, engine cooling and digital telemetry. The OEM’s engineering team also focused on weight reduction to ensure the track model weighs less than 1,361kg.

“I led engineering on some of the most extreme cars to come out of GM, including the Corvette Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V, but nothing compares to designing, developing and refining a race car for the road like the Venom F5 Revolution,” explained John Heinricy, Hennessey’s chief engineer. “From the outset, we designed the Venom F5 hypercar to be ultra-light and monstrously powerful, with dynamics to match. So, taking these ingredients and adding track-focused aerodynamics, suspension and gearing enabled us to create a machine that is the ultimate visceral and emotional driving experience.”

The Venom F5 Revolution Coupe features a twin-turbocharged, 6.6-liter, ‘Fury’ V8 engine mid-mounted within the carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, producing 1,817bhp. Mated to the engine is an automated single-clutch gearbox calibrated for competition use. To ensure that braking characteristics match the vehicle’s acceleration, carbon-ceramic brakes have been fitted as standard in combination with multi-piston calipers.

At the back of the Revolution Coupe is a full-width, adjustable rear-mounted carbon-fiber wing with end plates to prevent high-pressure air from the top of the wing from spilling underneath. This increases downforce without installing a wider wing. Additionally, the end plates generate vortexes that guide airflow to improve aerodynamics and stability. At 300km/h the rear wing can deliver 363kgf of downforce, and more than 635kgf at 400km/h.

To complement the rear wing and rear diffuser, Hennessey has installed a larger carbon-fiber front splitter to reduce the amount of air that flows under the car. This creates a low-pressure vortex under the vehicle to enhance downforce while the extended rear diffuser guides air out. Dive planes have been installed in front of the vehicle’s front wheels to channel airflow to shift aerodynamic balance forward for additional grip and improved turn-in attributes. A new roof-mounted central air scoop ensures component temperatures within the F5’s engine bay are kept cooler for maximum performance.

On the underside of the car, adjustable dampers and double-wishbone suspension have been fitted with aggressive alignment settings to suit hard driving scenarios. F5 owners are offered a digital onboard track telemetry system that can measure a host of data points including lap times, splits and cornering g-forces.

The US$2.7m Venom F5 Revolution Coupe is scheduled to make its international public debut at the Miami Motorcar Cavalcade Concours d’Elegance on January 15, 2023. Only 24 units will be produced.
