Strakka Racing switches to Dunlop ahead of Le Mans

Strakka Racing will switch to running Dunlop tires on its S103 for both Le Mans and the remainder of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The team is testing the Dunlop rubber, used by all other entrants in the WEC LMP2 category at Spa this week and will again at the Le Mans Test Day later this month.

“We’ve been looking at every opportunity we have to close the gap we have to the front-running P2 cars,” says technical director Jay Davenport. “We were the sole runners on Michelin in WEC and by switching to Dunlop it takes away a key variable. The Spa test provides a good comparison with our pace over the recent race weekend and offers a chance to optimise set up for the new tires ahead of Le Mans. Our priority now is to understand how we can maximise it for our car.

“We would like to thank Michelin for all the support and success it has given to us over many years and we will continue that relationship with our Strakka Racing World Series teams, adds Davenport. “We are also very excited about the potential of working with Dunlop’s engineers, the relationship is already progressing well in a very short space of time and we think this is the right way to go to move up the order and keep challenging for the championship.”
