Jamie Whincup purchases stake in Triple Eight Race Engineering

Number 1 Holden ZB Commodore driver Jamie Whincup has bought a 15% stake in Triple Eight Race Engineering. While the 35-year-old plans to drive on for at least two more years, the investment highlights his ambition to become a sole team owner.

The Supercars driver joins Roland Dane, Jessica Dane, Tim Miles and Paul Dumbrell as the team’s equity partners. Whincup has raced for Triple Eight for 12 years and a recently signed a contract extension to the end of 2019.

Whincup has previously outlined plans to own a Supercars team in the future, but despite the buy-in, the driver expects to remain behind the wheel for at least two more years, taking him until the end of 2020.
