Multimatic has appointed Sportech Engineering, exhibiting at PMW Expo, as its partner for the development of the steering system and supplier of the steering rack for its LMDh project. In a statement, Sportech said, “It is exciting to be part of this innovative top-level category backed both by IMSA for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the USA and by FIA and ACO for the World Endurance Championship.”

The XSP135 hydraulic power steering rack developed for the Multimatic LMDh chassis is a 100% tailored product. Thanks to the joint activity of the Multimatic and Sportech engineering design departments, the demanding packaging and performance requirements have been achieved. “We are also thankful for the very valuable feedback we have got from the car test activity that allowed us to refine the hydraulic simulations and fine-tune the boost curve according to the drivers’ expectations. We are proud to be involved in an LMDh project, the vanguard of technical developments in motorsport that are relevant to the reduction of the environmental impact of future mobility,” added Sportech.

After the initial development phase, Sportech Engineering is now focused on supplying more units for ongoing car testing by the end of 2022.
