This year’s PMW Expo, which took place in Cologne, Germany, on November 12 and 13, was an unmissable opportunity for engineers within the motorsport and high-performance automotive industries to come together and exchange ideas. This year’s show was busier than ever, with a broad spread of visitors, exhibitors and speakers from across the gamut of engineering disciplines.
Headline sponsor Motion Applied launched its rebrand (from McLaren Applied) and had a wide range of new products on display, from its latest TSW-700 steering wheel to NASCAR’s 2026 electronics platform and much more.
PMW Magazine Awards
The PMW Magazine Awards 2025 saw a strong field of entries. Held annually at PMW Expo, the awards are judged live at the show and celebrate technical and commercial achievements across the motorsport and high-performance automotive supply chain. With nominations ranging from innovative data and electronics solutions to cutting-edge safety equipment and advanced powertrain technologies, the judging panel had its work cut out deciding on the winners.
The panel this year featured experts in motorsport and automotive engineering, from former Le Mans-winning race car designers to Formula 1 and rallying engineers, with the judging process geared toward technical credibility rather than publicity.

Mega-Line presents next-generation e-clutch actuator
Mega-Line‘s e-clutch actuator delivers ultra-fast response times of under 100ms and exceptional durability. Building on the company’s proven clutch-by-wire technology, the latest design enables precise control and reliability for demanding motorsport categories such as GT3, Hypercar and LMDh.
The actuator supports high-frequency operation, features anti-stall functionality and is compatible with H-pattern gearboxes. It can function as a standalone unit or be integrated with Mega-Line’s marshal disconnect system for FIA-compliant safety.
“We’ve exhibited at PMW for more than 10 years because it brings real motorsport professionals together. It’s the one and only professional motorsport expo,” said Mega-Line commercial director Benedikt Roos.
Conflux shows off heat exchanger used in Pagani hypercar
Conflux Technology‘s advanced 3D-printed heat exchanger is featured in the transmission of Pagani’s latest hypercar, the Utopia, and was showcased at PMW Expo. Developed with Pagani and Xtrac, the custom cartridge heat exchanger delivers a 30% increase in heat rejection, maintaining thermal balance and performance under extreme conditions.
“PMW Expo is a meeting point for innovators shaping the future of manufacturing,” said Daniel France, business development and commercial lead EMEA, Conflux Technology. “It gives us a unique platform to showcase our heat exchange solutions and connect with the automotive engineering community, exchanging insights and exploring collaborations.”
Helix unveils integrated electric drive units
Helix demonstrated how combining motors, inverters and transmissions into a single plug-and-play system is transforming EV performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Delivering over 23kW/kg with zero thermal fade, the company’s electric drive units – proven in Formula 1, Formula E and the VW ID.R – offer high power density and cost advantages for high-performance EVs.
“PMW is where our target buyers actively seek next-generation powertrain solutions. It’s the most efficient way to connect with OEMs and program leaders needing motorsport-ready EV performance,” said Stuart Jaycocks, head of marketing at Helix.
Nikon SLM Solutions spotlights metal 3D printing for automotive
Nikon SLM Solutions showcased its latest advances in metal additive manufacturing at the expo. The company’s high-speed systems, featuring up to 12 lasers and build rates of 1,000ccm/h, produce precision-engineered components that highlight efficiency, productivity and design freedom. On display at the show were examples demonstrating how metal 3D printing is shaping the next generation of production.
“We see PMW as the perfect place to demonstrate industrialized metal 3D printing for automotive,” said Ralf Frohwerk, the company’s global head of business development. “With innovative AM applications already in series production in motorsport and hypercars, we aim to continue as a solution partner revolutionizing design and manufacturing.”
Italtecnica unveils V12 engine with excellent power-to-weight performance
Italtecnica revealed the Orion V12 – a 6.7-liter naturally aspirated engine that merges extreme performance with modern efficiency. Weighing under 200kg, it produces 850hp at 8,500rpm in Euro 6 form and over 900hp at 9,500rpm for track use, with a redline above 10,000rpm. Featuring an advanced intake design, variable timing and lightweight aluminum, titanium and carbon construction, Orion delivers remarkable power-to-weight
performance while meeting strict Euro 6 emissions standards.
“We chose to unveil the Orion V12 at PMW because it’s an international benchmark – not only in motorsport but also in the hypercar sector. Our goal is to reach as many interested people as possible,” said Danilo Brossa, technical director of the Italtecnica testing department.
Next year’s PMW Expo will take place at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, on November 10 & 11, 2026
