Touring Car Racing Australia has announced a multi-year tire supply deal, as well as a number of race regulations ahead its maiden championship next year.

The series has confirmed that Michelin has agreed a deal to supply tires to the international category, becoming the inaugural control tire supplier.

“The decision to select Michelin as the tire supplier was based on their experience in Asian and European TCR competition, their comprehensive level of support they are able to provide on and off track, and their intention to use TCR Australia series in their consumer marketing activities,” explained Matt Braid, director of Australian Racing Group.

TCR Australia becomes the latest championship to have an exclusive deal with Michelin, this follows TCR Asia, China, Scandinavia, Thailand and the Spanish Endurance Championship.

Race regulations for the inaugural seven round championship were also confirmed. All rounds will be held under sprint race formats, with three races per weekend. The possibility of an endurance race being included in 2020 is under consideration.

Additionally, all four TCR Series cars – Audi, Honda, VW and Hyundai – have undergone testing at Sydney Motorsport Park.
