The County of Monterey has revealed that Hyundai has become its official and exclusive automotive partner at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Hyundai’s N performance brand is also being welcomed back as a sponsor of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) race weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

“This partnership demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to dynamic performance vehicles,” said Angela Zepeda, CMO, Hyundai Motor America. “This iconic racetrack is the perfect pairing with the ‘Corner Rascal’ DNA of current and future N performance models. We’re excited to bring lots of track action to our enthusiastic owners and race fans in California.”

Following the announcement, the race weekend will now be named the Motul Course de Monterey powered by Hyundai N and will take place on May 12-14, 2023. The OEM will enter six Hyundai Elantra N TCR race cars for the IMSA race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and fans will be able to see track-ready Elantra and Kona N models at the ‘Hyundai N Experience’ in the fan zone.

“Hyundai has been a valued partner with WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for past IMSA race weekends, and we greatly look forward to significantly expanding this relationship,” said John Narigi, president and general manager of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. “The Hyundai team brings experience and passion to everything they do and is an ideal fit for the exciting new chapters in our racing facility.”

Under the new raceway partnership and presenting sponsorship, the Hyundai Elantra N will be used as the official pace car for races at the circuit, while the Tucson Hybrid, Sonata Hybrid and Palisade models will be used as support vehicles. Hyundai N Brand signage and billboards will be used at the track for all events, and within all future video games that feature the circuit. The OEM will also have set track days to introduce new N Brand vehicles to its customers.
