Video: A Lap Around Charlotte’s NASCAR Road Course

As NASCAR and track officials revealed a revised layout for the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course, which will make its debut in September’s race weekend, JoeGibbsRacingTV was able to produce the above, 360° video of the new layout.

The new circuit combines the 1.5-mile oval with the infield road-racing section, and removes what was labeled Turn 8 on the original track map, released last October. The final version of the circuit will be 2.28 miles over 17 turns instead of 2.4 miles over 18 turns, reducing lap times and making the infield section less technical.

The layout is scheduled to host the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series’ Bank of America 500 on Sept. 30. The race is scheduled as the finale to the Round of 16 in the playoffs, with four drivers eliminated from postseason eligibility.
