During the final European date of the 2017 ‘Pure McLaren’ track experience programme at the Circuit Paul Ricard in France, McLaren Automotive premiered the first dedicated 570S GT4 race event. The Pure McLaren GT4 Club Race saw 10 examples of the track-only Sports Series model on the grid, before a full European race calendar next year.

The race events are the latest addition to the Pure McLaren programme which provides drivers with comprehensive education and understanding of track and racecraft. Each driver is supported by a McLaren technical and engineering team that runs and maintains the 570S GT4, while drivers get to work with a dedicated driver coach to ensure development and improvement throughout each session.

The inaugural McLaren race event took place over three days around the famous French circuit, under the regulations and sanctioned by the British Automoblie Racing Club (BARC). After a series of free practice sessions on day one to get to grips with the 570S GT4, the grid of global customers took their race-craft to a new level with two qualifying sessions ahead of two closely-fought 30-minute races.

For the 2018 season, the Pure McLaren GT4 race events are to form part of an exciting calendar which will visit some of Europe’s most iconic circuits, including Silverstone in the UK and the famous Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium.
