Supercars has begun testing of its 2019 gearbox. Simona De Silvestro’s Nissan ran a new transaxle at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 ahead of a possible change of control supplier for 2019.

Xtrac has been working with Supercars to develop a bespoke transaxle for the category, with a view to introduction next year. The British company provided the transaxle for the Altima that ran throughout practice. Albins has provided the control gearbox since the start of 2013.

The championship’s push for reduced costs has led to the possibility of a new gearbox. The Xtrac package maintains the current stick-shift sequential format, which has featured since 2008.
