Cupra’s first fully electric touring car has completed its first full-speed laps at the Montmeló Circuit in Barcelona, Spain. Capable of hitting 100km/h in 3.2 seconds, the 670hp EV will compete in a new ETCR race series in 2020.

Aside from the 450kg (992 lb) battery pack at its heart, the new race car resembles current touring car machines.

Official Cupra driver, Mattias Ekström, is aiding development of the e-Racer. Working alongside team engineers and technicians, Ekström will help to fine-tune the electric race car.
