Georg Plasa 1960-2011

PMW is sad to learn of the death of Georg Plasa, the popular hillclimb driver and motorsport engineer. Plasa died following a high-speed accident during the Rieti hillclimb in Italy on July 10, driving the new and highly successful BMW 134 Judd that he and his young team of engineers had built for the 2011 FIA European Hill Climb Championship (see PMW, April-June 2011). We extend our sympathy to his family and his many friends and colleagues. A book of condolences is available online here and a public funeral service will be held in the Allerheiligen Church in Warngau, Germany at 15:00 on July 27.
