At BMW M, form consistently follows function. Every detail serves performance. This project is truly special to me because it carries the BMW M character into a new era.”

Form, function and motorsport references

Numerous M-specific design measures have been implemented to optimize aerodynamics – including the reinterpreted M aero exterior mirrors in the colors of BMW M. A distinctive air outlet shapes the V-shaped hood and supports the cooling of the electric drivetrain.

The BMW M Concept Neue Klasse is characterized by a forward-facing shark nose and a light signature with a depth effect, with the headlights and kidney grille integrated into a single unit.

New M yellow lights, inspired by GT racing cars and the BMW M Hybrid V8, are intended to become a signature feature of future BMW M models. Three-dimensional track lights add another lighting accent to the outer sections of the front apron.

The trimaran-style front bumper provides structural support for the front splitter. At the rear, the track lights and trimaran design continue above the floating diffuser. A ducktail spoiler is designed to improve aerodynamics and increase rear-axle downforce.

Natural-fiber elements are used in the exterior and interior of the vehicle.

High performance and BMW M driving experience

The BMW M Concept Neue Klasse represents the next chapter in the M-typical blend of dynamics, agility and precision.

“Even in the new all-electric era, we continue the M-typical tradition of transferring both technological innovations and defining design features directly from motorsport into series production,” said Franciscus van Meel, chairman of the board of management at BMW M.

BMW M eDrive is based on the Neue Klasse’s Gen6 technology and was developed specifically for all-electric BMW M automobiles. The drivetrain concept combines four electric motors with the central control software BMW M Dynamic Performance Control in the Heart of Joy high-performance computer. Thanks to the integrated, wheel-specific control of the drivetrain and braking systems, BMW M eDrive opens up new potential for driving dynamics and driving safety. It enables high recuperation performance, optimal traction right up to the limit, and particularly direct response.

The 800V technology and the high-voltage battery with an energy content of more than 100kWh create the conditions for long-range capability. A BMW M-specific optimized version of sixth-generation cylindrical cells provides particularly high output when delivering energy to the electric motors and during charging. The housing of the high-voltage battery is structurally integrated with the front and rear axles to improve the driving dynamics.

Accelerating from 0-62mph (100km/h) in 2.6 seconds and reaching 124mph (200km/h) in 6.8 seconds, the Nuvolari features technologies inspired by Formula 1, such as the high-performance hybrid powertrain, quattro predictive ride, active aerodynamics and the new Audi Space Frame (ASF) with carbon exterior.

“With the Audi Nuvolari, we are accelerating technological progress,” said Gernot Döllner, chairman of the board of management of Audi.

Hybrid powertrain with four drive units

Powered by a hybrid high-performance powertrain with a maximum system output of 736kW (1,001ps), the Nuvolari combines a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine delivering 588kW (800hp) with three axial flux electric motors, each producing 110kW. The lithium-ion battery has a gross capacity of 7.3kWh. The combustion engine delivers a maximum torque of 730Nm and reaches up to 10,000rpm.

Two oil-cooled axial flux electric motors at the front axle deliver up to 2,150Nm of torque. As an integral part of the quattro system, they support variable torque distribution. A third electric motor between the V8 mid-engine and the transmission completes the drive concept.

“Our entire team has once again demonstrated its technical expertise, innovative strength and dedication,” said Rouven Mohr, CTO of Audi.

The quattro drive stands for “traction, control and driving dynamics in all conditions,” the German auto maker said, adding that in the Nuvolari, it had further developed this principle with the next generation of all-wheel drive with the quattro predictive ride.

Detailed sensor data – including steering angle, acceleration, yaw rate (rotation of the vehicle around its vertical axis, which determines steering response in corners) and current grip level – continuously feed into the control system, creating a highly precise vehicle state model.

If the system anticipates a potential loss of grip in a corner, it responds proactively as an integrated system. The drive units distribute torque in both longitudinal and lateral directions. The brakes stabilize the vehicle through targeted interventions and reduce slip. The aerodynamics adjust the downforce according to the situation.

Drivers can also influence the system with four driving modes: E-Hybrid (fully electric), Balanced (comfort, efficiency and performance), Dynamic (agility and precision) and Dynamic+ (driving experience). Vehicle dynamics can be further refined in Track Mode.

Audi Space Frame

The vehicle architecture is designed for lightweight construction and high torsional rigidity using Audi Space Frame technology with a carbon exterior, which combines low weight with high structural strength.

Almost all exterior components are made from carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). All carbon fiber components have been developed using Formula 1 expertise, such as the prepreg autoclave technology, in which pre-impregnated carbon fibers are shaped and then cured under high pressure and temperature.

Active aerodynamics inspired by Formula 1

Each exterior element serves a clearly defined aerodynamic function, from the front splitter to the rear diffuser. Audi’s Formula 1 drivers provided targeted feedback during the development phase to fine-tune aerodynamic performance.

Front air intakes ensure effective brake cooling as well as efficient thermal management of the combustion engine and hybrid components. A vented front end, known as an S-duct, improves aerodynamic efficiency at the front axle, delivering additional downforce, reducing lift at high speeds and improving cooling of the powertrain.

The central element of the active aerodynamic system is the deployable adaptive rear wing. It controls downforce and drag across three configurations: closed, low downforce (LD) and high downforce (HD). A drag reduction system (DRS), familiar from Formula 1, can also be activated manually via a dedicated steering-wheel button to further lower the wing.

The energy management system is also inspired by motorsport. Boost and recuperation strategies are closely linked to torque distribution. As an integrated system, it continuously manages the interaction between power delivery and energy recovery.

Adaptive strategies for coasting and brake recuperation extend energy recovery to nearly all driving phases. At the front axle, electric deceleration takes on a significant portion of braking, while at the rear axle, coasting, partial load and traction control phases are used for recuperation. Purely electric deceleration of up to 0.3g is possible.

Braking system

A motorsport-inspired brake-by-wire system enables variable distribution between recuperation and hydraulic braking. The brake pedal is functionally decoupled from actual braking force at the wheels to ensure a consistent and precise pedal feel.

At the core of the system is the new Audi Ceramic Pro braking system, designed for consistently high deceleration and precise control.

At the front axle, 10-piston fixed calipers work with 420 × 40mm brake discs, while at the rear, four-piston calipers are paired with 410 × 32mm discs. The brake discs, derived directly from Formula 1, are based on a long-fiber carbon structure designed to withstand extreme thermal loads without compromising structural integrity or consistent friction characteristics.

The vehicle is part of Ferrari’s One-Off series within the company’s Special Projects program, and was designed by the Ferrari Design Studio under the direction of Flavio Manzoni. It is a mid-rear internal combustion engine V8 model derived from the F8 Spider, from which it inherits its layout, chassis and internal combustion powertrain.

According to Ferrari, the main ambition when creating the car was to reinterpret the forms and aesthetic codes of the company’s mid‑rear‑engined Spiders with a bold, forward-looking perspective.

Built on the F8 Spider platform, the HC25 is based on Ferrari’s final open-top model with a mid-rear non-hybrid turbo V8 engine. Its styling features pronounced wheel arches, clean lines and sculpted surfaces inspired by Ferrari’s latest flagship models, the F80 and Ferrari 12Cilindri, linking the brand’s mid-rear V8 heritage with the design direction of newer vehicles through simple geometric forms and flowing body contours.

The dual-volume structure defines the front and rear as two distinct bodies, joined by a wrapping, highly three‑dimensional central band. This element appears as a functional black ribbon incorporating essential thermal-management components, including air intakes for the radiators and heat extraction for the powertrain.

The side profile is shaped by an arrow-like design line that extends from the rear wheel area toward the front, rises over the door and handle, then flows back into the rear screen. This design emphasizes the rear bodywork while creating a forward visual balance. The door handle is integrated into a long aluminum element that spans the body sides, separated by a central black band.

The proportions of the HC25 have been refined to minimize the visual impact of the glazing and lower the perceived shoulder line that shapes the car’s silhouette. At the front, the headlight has been created specifically for this car to achieve a very slim lens with a central indentation that perfectly mirrors the split design of the rear lights. The DRLs (daytime running lights) adopt a vertical arrangement, exploiting the leading edge of the front wings to create a distinctive boomerang shape.

The design combines gloss and matt finishes to create visual contrast. Yellow accents used on the Ferrari logos and brake calipers are reflected in the cabin, where gray technical fabric is paired with yellow graphic elements inspired by shapes used on the exterior and daytime running lights. The wheels have a five-spoke design with a diamond-finished outer rim and recessed detailing intended to enhance their visual size, while the dark-finished spokes emphasize the wheel diameter.

Limited to just 30 units, the RSV4 X-GP brings race-bred performance to the road, the team says.

Aerodynamics

The RSV4 X-G is directly derived from the RS-GP25. It introduces leg wings and tail wings to a production-based motorcycle – technologies seen only a few months ago on the RS-GP25 – that add significant downforce during braking and cornering. Completing the aero package are a uniquely shaped front wing, an under wing and cornering wings.

Equipped with ground-effect aerodynamics, the RSV4 X-GP features side fairings designed to reduce air pressure between the bike and the asphalt while leaned over, generating downforce that presses the bike firmly to the ground.

The fairing is made of carbon fiber by PAN Compositi, using the same processes employed in MotoGP. This construction increases vertical load by five times on the straight.

Structure

Another feature taken from MotoGP prototypes is the structural carbon-fiber seat support, also crafted by PAN Compositi. It integrates structural, aerodynamic and design functions in a single element.

An additional refinement is the sandwich carbon lay-up, a special layering technique designed to maximize lightness while preserving rigidity. This increases rear-tire feedback, giving the rider a more direct connection to the bike’s behavior.

“Ten years after our return to MotoGP, we wanted to celebrate with a truly special X – one that recalls MotoGP as much as possible and transfers the essence of the RS-GP25 onto a production-derived bike,” said Massimo Rivola, Aprilia Racing CEO.

“The RSV4 X-GP is unique, beautiful and captivating, capable of delivering those very special sensations usually reserved for professional riders, but still perceptible by passionate amateurs. A product for the few, embodying all of Aprilia Racing’s passion, technology and craftsmanship.”

Engine

The RSV4 X-GP’s 65° V4 engine, 1,099cc with SBK racing specifications, has been tuned by Aprilia Racing’s engineers to produce 238hp at 13,750rpm (revving up to 14,100rpm) and 131Nm of torque at 11,750rpm. These figures are achieved through dedicated tuning, including a higher compression ratio, a Sprint Filter high-permeability racing air filter, dedicated intake trumpets and a titanium SC Project exhaust system with twin pipes and compensator, along with an STM dry clutch. Enhancing the package are the twin-outlet SC Project exhausts.

Electronics

All active electronic systems are managed by the APX engine control unit developed by Aprilia Racing, the latest evolution of the same unit that powered RSV4.

This ECU uses racing-level strategies identical to those deployed in competition, with fully customizable parameters to suit riding style and track conditions. It also features complete data acquisition for performance analysis.

The APX system manages wheelie control, traction control, engine braking and power delivery. A built-in GPS module is also included. Each RSV4 X-GP comes with a dedicated Yashi laptop preloaded with the software for ECU management and fine-tuning.

Chassis

The aluminum dual-beam frame is enhanced with Öhlins mechanical suspension featuring a dedicated set-up. At the front, a pressurized Öhlins fork is paired with a Brembo braking system: radial 19×16 master cylinder, monobloc GP4 MS calipers, Z04 racing pads and 330mm T Drive discs. At the rear, braking is handled by a caliper with a nickel-plated finish.

The RSV4 X-GP rides on forged magnesium Marchesini wheels, shod with Pirelli Superbike slicks (SC-1 front 125/70, SC-X rear 200/65).

“With the RSV4 X-GP we wanted to take another step forward, putting the most advanced technology directly into our customers’ hands. Our engineers have created something that goes beyond an evolution of the extraordinary X project: a motorcycle born directly from MotoGP DNA,” said Fabiano Sterlacchini, technical director Aprilia Racing.

“This is proven by innovations such as the leg and tail wings from the RS-GP25, the structural carbon-fiber seat support and an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. Many components, both visible and hidden, are either new or optimized to guarantee performance and a riding experience aligned with the highest standards of motorsport.”

BMW M Motorsport is implementing aerodynamic updates – subject to final homologation – based on insights gained by engineers during previous race outings.

The most notable change to the BMW M Hybrid V8 is its front end. An adjusted splitter will be added to optimize airflow, while the BMW kidney grille will be slightly smaller while retaining its contour lighting. The hybrid will also receive new headlights.

The aerodynamic updates have been designed to provide two benefits: to enable the car to perform more consistently across all track layouts, to eliminate weaknesses found following analysis of past seasons in the FIA WEC and IMSA; and the revised airflow around the car improves cooling efficiency.

The development of the aerodynamics, from CFD calculations to the manufacturing of parts, was carried out in close collaboration between BMW M Motorsport engineers and chassis partner Dallara. Following private test sessions in recent weeks, the BMW M Hybrid V8 is due to make its first public appearance after the FIA WEC Lone Star Le Mans race in Austin, Texas, during a joint test at the Circuit of the Americas. Subject to final homologation, the vehicle’s first race will be the 24 Hours of Daytona at the end of January 2026.

Andreas Roos, head of BMW M Motorsport, said, “Since we began racing in the IMSA series in 2023 and the FIA WEC in 2024, we have learned a great deal about our BMW M Hybrid V8. After optimizing the brakes for the current season, it is now time for an aerodynamically improved version of the car. With these updates, we are responding to the insights gained from our previous race outings.

“Following the tests we’ve already conducted, we are confident that the changes to the BMW M Hybrid V8 will allow us to compete more consistently at the front on all types of tracks, taking another step toward the top. A big thank you to everyone involved for their hard work. In the coming months, we will continue to work intensively to ensure we are optimally prepared for the start of the 2026 season at Daytona in January.”

Developed under the internal codename RML P39, the GTH has been designed to balance high performance, refinement and usability. It features driver-selected active aero and damping systems, enabling competitive track performance while maintaining a comfortable ride on the road. The car is the first of 39 production models, and one of the 10 RML 40th Anniversary Special Edition (SE) variants.

This SE specification includes exclusive bespoke interior detailing and upgrades plus both the performance pack and highest track pack. These upgrades bring selectable ride height adjustment, rear roll cage and rear-seat delete. Power has been increased to 920hp and torque exceeds 1,000Nm, the result of detailed tuning developed in collaboration with Litchfield Motors.

The first GTH has been finished outside in ‘Storm Purple’ with the roof and hood in tinted visual carbon. The larger, center-lock wheels have been finished in gold and the brake calipers in gunmetal. Badging is in hand-painted gold. Inside, the retrimmed standard seats and interior leather have Crayon-colored stitching; the seatbelts are also now Crayon to match; the inlays are body-colored visual carbon fiber; and the roll cage has been finished in ‘Storm Purple’.

Michael Mallock, board member responsible for the bespoke division, said, “This is a proud day in RML history. I could not be more thrilled with how the GT Hypercar has turned out. It was an ambitious project but it has beaten even my exacting expectations on road and track. I congratulate and thank the whole RML team for making my and our customer’s dream cars come true.’

RML Group CEO Paul Dickinson added, “GT Hypercar demonstrates the very best of RML Group. Our ability to produce extraordinary world-beating products and solutions in record time and within budget is unmatched, as we’ve proven again here. Congratulations to our team and the first owner.”

The 2025 Team Suzuki CN Challenge GSX-R1000R will have feature fenders, winglets and fairings made from Bcomp’s natural-fiber composites, ampliTex and powerRibs.

Originally, Tras used Bcomp technologies to develop prototype bodywork for the Suzuki ECSTAR MotoGP team, increasing awareness of modern natural-fiber composites. This technical demonstration prompted the latest collaboration to produce race-ready components for Team Suzuki CN Challenge as it enters the experimental class of the 2024 and 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) Suzuka 8 Hours.

Bcomp’s ampliTex is a technical fabric designed for composite layups and can be strengthened by powerRibs, a reinforcement structure. Both composites harness the natural characteristics of flax fibers to produce parts with excellent stiffness and damping properties, while also being lightweight. Critically, they offer up to 85% CO2 emission reduction from cradle to gate, and viable end-of-life solutions compared with carbon fiber.

At the 2025 Suzuka 8 Hours, the team raced with 100% sustainable fuel, racing tires with recycled material, bio-sourced engine oil and an eco-friendly titanium muffler.

Shinichi Sahara, head of Suzuki Motorsports, said, “The 2025 Team Suzuki CN Challenge GSX-R1000R is an incredible machine that sets ambitious goals to simultaneously minimize environmental impact and drive greater performance. Embracing the natural color of ampliTex in our bodywork and winglets has great visual impact – you can see a sustainable material in action. We hope to expand our use of Bcomp and increase awareness of these technologies across the motorsport and motorcycle industries. We look forward to our future work with Tras and Bcomp, working together to achieve new goals in sustainable motorsport.”

Masanao Nitta, representative director at Tras, commented, “These innovative natural-fiber parts were made possible thanks to Bcomp’s material technologies. The new ampliTex prepreg even withstood the hot and humid manufacturing environments typical of Southeast Asia. With this improvement, we were able to further enhance the performance and aesthetic of the ampliTex parts. This year, there are both more parts and larger parts on the Suzuki CN Challenge GSX-R1000R that have been made from ampliTex and powerRibs – a major step forward that opens wider possibilities. We look forward to seeing these parts raced at Suzuka, proving their capability at the highest level.”

Ken Kruck, sales representative motorsport at Bcomp, added, “Competing at Suzuka 8 Hours with natural-fiber composite bodywork is the ultimate proof point. It’s a conclusive demonstration that the performance demands of top-tier motorsport can be met by modern sustainable material technologies – performance and sustainability are no longer mutually exclusive. We look forward to our continued work with Tras and Team Suzuki CN Challenge.”

“Our latest Volvo P1800 Cyan is a further celebration of the iconic GT cars from the 1960s of which the original Volvo P1800 is one of the true heroes,” said Christian Dahl, CEO of Cyan.

“We are glad to make our first delivery to our home country where the car is built and designed, especially to a client which has one of Sweden’s biggest car collections. We are also introducing a number of new features to this car which further adds to the versatility of the Volvo P1800 Cyan,” he added.

The Volvo P1800 Cyan was customized to the client’s specifications in close collaboration with the Cyan team. The final result features a beige metallic exterior, 17in center-lock wheels, a revised exhaust system with twin tips, and a sand-colored leather and fabric interior.
