Changes to LMGTE Pro BoP ahead of Nürburgring 6h

The first automated Balance of Performance (BoP) calculations have been issued for the LMGTE Pro category of the FIA World Endurance Championship ahead of the 6 Hours of Nürburgring this coming weekend (14-16 July). The new system, which was been introduced this year by the FIA and ACO - with the full support of all the GT manufacturers - uses evaluation criteria defined and agreed by all parties before the start of the season.

The calculations are based on the first two races of the 2017 season and don’t take into account performances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans which is subject to a specific BoP and specific bodywork.

Aston Martin finished 6th and 7th in class at Silverstone and 7th and 8th at Spa, and now receives a 20kg weight break taking the Vantage V8s to 1188kg, and a power increase thanks to a 0.1mm larger air restrictor.

The minimum weight of the two Ford GTs has gone up by 20kg, from 1253kg to 1273kg, while the Ferrari 488 GTEs and the Porsche 911 RSRs will race with the same BoP as at Spa and Silverstone. Turbo boost levels for both Ford and Ferrari are unchanged from the second round of the championship in Belgium.

The LMGTE Am class, which does not utilise the automatic BoP system, sees only one change with the 2016 specification Aston Martin Vantage getting a 0.2mm smaller air restrictor.
