Mecachrome to supply engines for Ginetta's LMP1 entry

Ginetta has confirmed it has appointed leading engine builder Mecachrome to supply engines for its forthcoming LMP1 car.

Ewan Baldry, Ginetta technical director visited Mechachrome’s head office in Aubigny Sur Nere, France earlier this month and was left impressed by the facility. Having already undertaken durability testing on the engine at forecasted horsepower levels, it was clear the team have the experience, expertise and production facilities to deliver a front running engine.

"We are delighted to be working with Bruno and Mecachrome on the Ginetta LMP1 engine," explained Baldry. "Both parties see the currently landscape in LMP1 as the perfect opportunity to become involved in the project and we look forward to a very exciting 2017."

"Mecachrome are very much looking forward to working with Ginetta as they make the journey towards LMP1," added Bruno Engelric, Mecachrome motorsport manager. "Having spent time with the team in the UK and France, it’s clear we both have some fantastic personnel working on the project and we look forward to the future."

Initial CFD testing is set to take place in the near future, with aerodynamic surface design progressing well. Elsewhere, Ginetta is currently in the process of finalising the details on all other elements of the programme, which will be announced in due course.
