Magny-Cours circuit names Saulnier as chairman
The Supervisory Board of the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit, chaired by Georges Eymery, has named Serge Saulnier as chairman and Gilles Alegoet as a member of the board of the circuit’s management company, with a renewable mandate until 2013.
Saulnier is originally from Nevers and a resident of Magny-Cours where, between 1980 and 2006 he owned the Promatecme and Saulnier Racing teams before becoming the sporting director and team manager of Peugeot Sport in September 2006 (see PMW, June-August 2009).
”I take this role knowing the responsibilities that have been bestowed on me in a difficult economic and sporting climate,” said Saulnier. “The automotive industry as a whole and motorsport in particular, are changing. We must be creative, imaginative and rigorous in order to best meet the challenges of tomorrow while simultaneously developing the number, quality and success of our major automotive and motorbike events. I will assume this task in the best interests of the Magny-Cours circuit, its partners and its public.”
Added Alegoet: “I would like to thank Marcel Charmant and Guy Ligier, who will become a shareholder in the company, for their trust. I first discovered the Magny-Cours circuit in 1989 when I started working in Formula 1 as an engineer with Guy Ligier’s team. I am happy to now use my experience for the benefit of this magnificent, world renowned circuit, which is part of French motorsport heritage.”
