DAMS GP2 becomes the Renault F1 Junior Team
Following the recent announcement of the creation of the Renault F1 Driver Programme, French race team DAMS – former home of new Renault team principal Eric Boullier – has been chosen as a partner in the new scheme.
In 2010, DAMS will run the two Renault F1 reserve drivers, Ho-Pin Tung and Jérôme d’Ambrosio, in the GP2 Series, in cars bearing Renault’s yellow and black colors, as the Renault F1 Junior Team. The campaign has received a boost in the recruitment of Loïc David as general manager, and Yannick Hubert who has joined DAMS as track engineer.
Jean Paul Driot, CEO said: “I’m very proud that DAMS is now running in the mythical Renault F1 colors. For the last 21 years DAMS has won in many branches of the sport, and my aim in 2010 is to honor this partnership with many victories in the GP2 Series. Our new management structure and the recruitment of new engineers should help us achieve very good performances.”
