Lifeline launches range of innovative race mirrors
Fire suppression technology specialist Lifeline has added a new range of ‘racer-focused’ competition mirrors to its safety products inventory.
The company claims that, in terms of durability and reliability, race mirrors currently available to the sport fall way short of driver requirements. It says many are awkward to fit, particularly to touring cars, and because of a lack of resistance to vibration, they suffer from ‘droop’ – causing inevitable blindspots.
Jim Morris, the boss of Lifeline and a seasoned campaigner in saloons and single seaters, has seen the problem first hand: “A number of drivers and race engineers I met found the same problems and it occurred to me that, with the new CAD programs we were using to develop other products, we could harness them to find a way around the race mirror issues.”
To improve durability, the mirrors are manufactured to a high specification with a high impact, shatter-resistant body. They are available in either black or white and can be painted to suit a particular car livery. There is a choice of either a flat or convex mirror, also shatter resistant.
