iOpener is a young dynamic organisation, headquartered in Aachen and with an R&D office at the University of Technology in Delft (the Netherlands). In 2006, iOpener won the Galileo Master Competition at the European Space Agency headquarters in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. After being selected for the ESA Business incubation initiative, giving unprecedented access to high-level navigation system knowledge, a proof of concept was successfully accomplished only one year later.
Backed by a seasoned venture capitalist from Germany, iOpener is active in the gaming and motorsport industries. The company is shaping up to become the leader in providing and facilitating real-time data into a wide spectrum of applications. Through its patented technology, including satellite navigation systems, this range extends over games, driver training, and visualization.
Currently iOpener is developing along with SimBin, one of the leading race game developers worldwide, the first official iOpener Enabled computer game “Real-time Racing”. Here it is possible to race against real drivers in a real race on a real track, all in real-time from your home computer!
In the mean time iOpener has been testing extensively on international GT racetracks, leading to further improvements and fine-tuning of its technology. “iOpener Enabled Race Circuits” have been able to make use of a sophisticated system of accurate tracking and virtual projection of its race cars, all in real-time.
Racetracks have become a major focus for iOpener. Through a more effective digital exploitation of track assets it is possible to create advanced track safety systems as well as new experiences for digital media and digital consumer products. iOpener seeks to lead the motorsport industry with iOpener Enabled into a new age of merging reality and virtuality.
